The incredible history of the Ellicott City Firehouse is little known but incredibly intriguing! Stop by the Ellicott CIty Firehouse Museum and take a tour of one of the first firehouses of the city, which is now home to an informative museum full of history! In 1889 a group of enthusiastic firefighter volunteers constructed the firehouse of the century right in the heart of Ellicott city and it still stands today as a beacon of the community. Now you can find a historical museum in its place, but still in the same spot where it all got started. The historic district was home to a long line of wooden row homes which just so happen to also be a huge fire spreading hazard, and that is how the Ellicott Firehouse came about to become such a life saving operation. You can stop in and tour the museum, to get the full background and history of this incredible firehouse while also taking in the sights and scenes of the city. Bring the kids too, and give them the full rundown of how important fire safety really is, while also immersing them in the history of it all. Currently open weekends from 1PM-4PM, be sure to pop in and check out this incredible piece of Ellicott history.
